Can you use Suica on OnePlus 13?
The OnePlus 13 cannot hold a Suica, a PASMO or an ICOCA. There is no setting to change, no app to install and no region trick that works — the chip the gates read is simply not in this handset. What you do instead takes about two minutes at the airport.
How to be sure
No Japanese-market variant of this handset ships FeliCa, so there is no way to add a Suica to it.
What to do instead
Buy a plastic card. For a trip of 28 days or less, a Welcome Suica or a Tourist PASMO costs no deposit and is sold at the airport counters at Narita and Haneda. For a longer stay, buy an ordinary unregistered Suica, PASMO or ICOCA at a station machine — 500 yen deposit, no expiry date, refundable at a window of the operator that issued it.
Things that do not work
Changing the phone’s region or language, installing a Japanese eSIM, signing in with a Japanese account, or being physically in Japan will not add FeliCa to a handset that does not have it. Nor will any app from outside the official store. The chip is either in the phone or it is not.
What a Suica actually pays for
Trains and buses across the ten mutually accepted IC card networks, plus convenience stores, vending machines, station kiosks, coin lockers and a growing number of taxis. It is a prepaid balance capped at 20,000 yen, so it will not cover a hotel deposit, a car hire or a reserved Shinkansen seat bought at a machine.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use Suica on a OnePlus 13?
No. The OnePlus 13 has no FeliCa chip, so no Japanese IC card can be added to it. Buy a physical Welcome Suica, Suica or PASMO instead — they work at exactly the same gates.
Does a OnePlus 13 bought outside Japan work with Suica?
No. There is no market variant of the OnePlus 13 that will hold a Japanese IC card, so where you bought it makes no difference.
Which IC cards can a OnePlus 13 hold?
None. A OnePlus 13 cannot hold Suica, PASMO or ICOCA, so you will be using a plastic card in Japan.
What happens at the gate if my OnePlus 13 runs out of battery?
It makes no difference — this handset was never going to open the gate. Carry a plastic card and it will work whatever your battery is doing.
